Happy, happy, joy, joy. Did I just say that out loud? Appears I did. Oh well, it's game week and we're ready for the offseason to be over and start watching games again. This week on the Eye And Eer podcast, we look at all of the games we want to watch this weekend but also highlight key games that we won't miss. There are obvious ones like Boise State and Virginia Tech, but here's at least one of our picks Purdue at Notre Dame (Phil) and Kentucky at Louisville (Tom). We also provide a snippet of analysis for the Marshall-Ohio State game. OK, that's not a normal topic for us, but since both of us will be at the game, we thought it was important to offer a little insight. Despite the fact it is the start of the season, we couldn't overlook the latest off-the-field transgressions/allegations at North Carolina. Is Butch Davis quickly jumping on the hot seat? We also have a great list of quick hitters that you just won't want to miss.

WARNING: Before you listen to this podcast, please note that Phil is extremely pissed and his distaste for Big Ten commission Jim Delany and the ADs at Michigan and Ohio State comes shining through. Can you freakin' believe there are discussions about moving the date of the OSU-Michigan game? Does anyone cherish traditions any more? Of course, BYU doesn't. How dare those Mormons tear apart the WAC by leaving the Mountain West Conference? OK, that's a little over the top, but hey, when you're on a roll you go with it. Those are just two of the things we cover in this week's podcast (that's right, we're back to weekly shows now). We also cover preseason thoughts and feelings about the 2010 prospects for Ohio State and West Virginia, as well as look at Steve Spurrier and his QB decision, Bobby Bowden who is still fired, and the first AP Poll of the season.

What makes today's podcast so interesting is that both Phil and Tom can smell the start of college football. With fall camps opening around the country we know we're that much closer to the kickoff of the season. Today we cover a lot of great topics, including Boise State's fans obsession with being ranked No. 5 in the preseason poll (hey Boise, go undefeated and you'll probably play for a championship). We also consider the possibility that NCAA issues that keep following Rich Rodriguez and Lane Kiffin could be the end of their coaching careers at big-time college programs. There's also a lot of Big Ten and Bill Stewart discussions. Listen in and see what you think. Or don't, because we're still going to do the show.

Someone correct me if Im wrong, but hasn't this been the most news-packed offseason in college football history? Well, at least in our lifetime. From conference expansion to USC/NCAA and now we get AgentGate. What is the fall out from this going to be and will the NCAA do anything to clean up this mess? Let's not overlook the fact that Jeremiah Masoli was suspended for the year from Oregon, but looks like he's going to end up at Ole Miss with Houston Nutt. Speaking of Ole Miss and teams that always fail when the expectations get too high, Phil and Tom give their prediction on which teams will be epic failures in 2010. This week's quick hitters are interesting and here's what we touch on: North Carolina's future, Steve Kragthorpe resigning, Maurice Clarett returning to the classroom at OSU and Lane Kiffin's future with Pat Haden as AD.

With the defections continuing at USC, is Lane Kiffin really the best person to fashion together enough success to convince recruits to keep coming to Southern Cal? We're not sold he's the man. It won't help Kiffin's long-term plans if Mike Garrett is finally ousted as AD. The show is also very SEC heavy. First, we discuss the claim that the SEC is hands-down, the best football conference in 2010. Maybe we're crazy, but the SEC is actually pretty weak, except for Florida and Alabama. We also give our picks for what teams could end the SEC dominance in the BCS Championship game (there's not many choices). In this week's Quick Hitters: Seantrel Henderson, Big Ten championship locations, Jake Locker vs. Christian Ponder, Mike London's essay contest at Virginia, Ohio State teammates Ross Homan and Cameron Heyward, and Erin Andrews. Enjoy.

Seriously, we tried to come up with something to talk about other than USC's public spat with the NCAA and expansion, but it's not easy. We hope we offer you some good analysis on those on-going topics, though. We did offer some thoughts on areas outside of expansion and USC in the Quick Hitters, including the biggest athletic freak we've ever seen in the college game.

When it comes to talking college football in June, Phil and Tom are normally struggling for topics. Not this summer. Thanks to expansion, the Texas Longhorns, the Pac-10 and USC's sanctions we have plenty to discuss. So of course we dissect the non-expansion, expansion that is going on as well as try to figure out if the University of Texas is the good guy or bad guy in this whole thing. We also look at our Big 12 and ACC early predictions, and of course Phil finds a way to mention the World Cup. Enjoy.

Phil and Tom are finally back on the podcasting airwaves with another 30-plus minutes on college football. Here is what we cover in Episode No. 67: Michigan has released its findings and institutional sanctions on the program following practice-gate. Now will the NCAA agree and let everyone move on from this embarrassing situation? We also think the NCAA will take an opportunity to re-evaluate these non-coaching positions. We also discuss first-year coaches and who we think will be the most successful in 2010, as well as offer more insight into our Big East (Phil) and Big Ten (Tom) preseason predictions. In this week's quick hitters we look at: How serious the NCAA sanctions may be for USC when they are announced Friday, bloggers' reliance on Phil Steele and preseason magazine to survive the summer months, the College Football Hall of Fame, and what Ohio State and WVU player will be a surprise player by midseason. Thanks for tuning in again.

So the Big 12 officials are saying everything is fine and dandy in their conference and no one is looking to leave for another conference. Has anyone told Missouri this? Seems to us that the Big 12 is trying to put up a nice united front, but it doesn't look good. Also, don't overlook a little less publicized possible defection of Boise State from the WAC to the MWC. Our 66th podcast also covers: 1. Lane Kiffin's outrageous salary at USC, 2. Discussion of our recent postings on conference predictions, 3. Brian Kelly playing used car salesman to the Notre Dame faithful, 4. Mike Leach's lawsuit and what it might cost him, 5. Mark Richt's future at Georgia, 6. The renewal of the Miami-Notre Dame rivalry. Hope you enjoy another episode of Eye and Eer: College Football Podcast.

Would Jim Delany and the rest the Big Ten just expand already? Stop jerking us around so we don't have to keep talking about this every podcast. OK, we get it. You're in the power position and the rest of us will just have to wait. Waiting is something we don't want to do any more. Phil's points out in this podcast that we just passed the halfway point of the offseason, so we decided to take a look at the first week and see what game is the most intriguing. Speaking of next season, can you believe there will be 70 teams playing in bowl games? Looks that way. But is this all bad? Of course, we talk a little Ohio State and WVU, as well as look at the best QBs for 2010.

After a few weeks of working on a new blog, which you can find at EyeandEer.com, we decided to get back to our roots and give our fans another podcast. This week we dissect the inevitable Big Ten expansion (hey, Notre Dame you're on the clock). We also look at one of the new rules for 2010 that hasn't gotten as much attention the kickoff wedge block rule. Other topics: Joe Paterno doesn't like it when high schoolers leave early to enroll in the spring semester so shouldn't all of us hate it, Alabama's high-octane offense, Big East options if and when expansion occurs elsewhere, Rich Rodriguez future in Ann Arbor, the QB controversy at Michigan and a $60 million high school football stadium.

Since Phil and Tom had already completed yesterday's podcast before reading the news about Mike Bellotti's departure from Oregon, and the surprising news that OU President Richard Lariviere pushed him out the door because the Ducks Athletic Department was not being run properly, they got together again to briefly discuss this topic. Enjoy.

OK, so we're a little late with the podcast. But it was worth the wait. You'll enjoy Phil and Tom discussing ideas to improve spring practice and make it more fan friendly, what's wrong with Oregon football coach Chip Kelly's definition of suspension (did anyone notice that suspended QB Jeremiah Masoli is practicing), and why everyone is just plain foolish to think Boise State or TCU could pull off a Butler-like run in football. We also realize we may be the only two college football bloggers or podcasters who doesn't want a playoff in football. Let's not forget our Quick Hitters. This week Phil covers Brian Kelly's constant bashing of his current Notre Dame team, Lane Kiffin the disciplinarian and what player Ohio State needs to find a replacement for most this spring. Tom covers the return of the Tebow smash in Gainesville, Big Ten expansion (Phil says we have to stop this), and what player West Virginia needs to find a replacement for this spring. Enjoy another show.

After back-to-back, jam-packed podcasts we have to admit that this one is a little lighter. Maybe it's March Madness or the lack of real football or a couple months. Oh well. Here's what we have this week. When you consider the NCAA is looking to ruin the basketball tournament and expand to 96 teams because of greed, how much do you think it will screw up a football tournament if we let them have it? That's right, plenty. Money always wins. We also take an early look at the coaches on the hot seat and who has the best chance of saving their job and who should be sending out resumes. Coaches aren't the only ones on the hot seat. How would you like to be replacing Tim Tebow, Colt McCoy or Sam Bradford? Think there's a little pressure on John Brantley, Garrett Gilbert and Landry Jones? We also try to explain what Oregon's Mike Bellotti is doing by going to ESPN. Enjoy another show.

Can anyone talk about college football today and not mention expansion? We couldn't. We actually spend a great deal of time discussing the hot topic, especially the revelation that Notre Dame may actually be ready to end its independent status. This puts the Big Ten in a power position, especially if the conference can reel in the Fighting Irish and even go bigger with Missouri and Nebraska. As for the Pac-10, expansion seems to be pretty clear-cut ... go with Colorado and Utah and be happy. But what does this all mean for the Big 12? It may not hurt that much, especially if the conference gets TCU, SMU and pulls Arkansas from the SEC. Oh how the dominoes may fall. We also look at how some of our favorite college players fared in the NFL Combine and the future of Rich Rodriguez at Michigan, especially following the public support of new AD David Brandon. Enjoy another show from Phil and Tom.
