Each Thursday morning, I'll present people within the community and the surrounding areas with a look into what programming and events are happening at the Abilene Public Library for the upcoming week. After I cover those, I'll be addressing the highlights of various community events and programs happening around Abilene that you can also be on the lookout for if wanting to attend. As public libraries serve as community centers wherever they're located, it's good to go ahead and provide a comprehensive look at all programming.

West Texas Book & Music Festival ~ Sept. 22-27

The 8th Annual West Texas BOok & Music Festival is on it's way, and this is a great time for people in the community, the surrounding areas, and these parts of Texas to come out and participate in many activities of events planned for the week. Over 100 authors, musicians, publishers, and more will be coming out with popular authors including western author Elmer Kelton, the comical Dixie Cash writing duo, authors from across the state, local authors and more. This podcast will give you the highlights of the day to day activities for the event so listen up to get the information you'll need. Upcoming Weekly City Events ~ Sept. 1-7

I have decided to add another weekly episode to my lineup that I will post each Thursday to present you with a look at the events and programming that are going to be going on at the Abilene Public Library for the following week. In addition to that, since public libraries are community centers for areas we serve, I decided to also give you a listing of events and activities that will be going on at throughout the City of Abilene as compiled by the Abilene Convention & Visitor's Bureau. Remember that programming offered and sponsored by the Abilene Public Library are open to the public to attend for free and at no charge; however, the second half that will recap events going on throughout the City of Abilene may have admission fees, but I have tried to provide you with all of the necessary contact information for each of those programs in order for you to get more information.

Take a listen as I briefly mention the winners from the library's past Anime Art Contest whom were in the Abilene Reporter News today (which is our local newspaper). Anime & Manga related programming are all the buzz amongst the teen and young adult demographics and library systems everywhere have seen great success with incorporating such programming into their schedules. This will be a short podcast, as it was not a "standard" article like my normal Wednesday ones, but still, it provides some good information relating to anime in libraries today.

It's Tremain from the Abilene Public Library in Abilene, Texas and my original Library Talk podcast has now been cut in two. On Tuesdays, Library Talk will focus on DVDs and Books being released for that day and week, while Fridays edition will focus on coverage of libraries in the news. Since it's Friday, this will will be the news edition of Library Talk where I've found some recent stories relating to libraries including updates on the Kirk's Bill, more news on the Codex Sinaiticus, guns in libraries, fires, potential earthquakes, Breaking Dawn, and more. So tune in and get caught up on what happened this past week with libraries in the news.
