(Play It) The Ten Commandmeants P.II The Name of God
Most of us know the third Commandmeant from the King James version:
"Thou shall not take the name of the Lord thy God in Vain". We usally consider it a commandmeant against bad language, cursing, swearing and profanity.
The word vanity appears a lot in the bible, used often in the Old Testament, it means "to empty of content, or to make irrelevant". This is what the third commandmeant is all about, emptying Gods name of significance, and making it irrelevant, identifying God as something He is not!
Exodus 20:7 Thou shall not take the name of the Lord in vain!

They used to be posted in our classrooms, and court houses, they used to be required reading growing up, they even provided the basis, for one of the most remembered films of all time. But that's the use to bes.
What about today, March 2008? What relevance do the Ten Commandments for today? In particular what about the first commandment, "Thou shall have no other gods before me".

(Play It) Knowing God PII Knowing His Voice
The Bible says that if we are His Sheep, we will recognize his voice in our lives. I believe we are a church that wants to hear God’s voice for our personal lives, for the corporate life of the church, in prophetic utterance for the world.
But the question is how do we know it’s his voice? How do we know when it is not just some thought that has come to our head that we are thrilled with?
Samuel was one of the greatest prophets in the scripture, he was one f the last judges of Israel before the era of the kings, and he led the nation trough the transition by the voice of God, but even Samuel didn’t recognize God’s voice when he first heard it.
1 Sam 3
The Lord called Samuel.
Samuel answered, "Here I am." 5 And he ran to Eli and said, "Here I am; you called me."
But Eli said, "I did not call; go back and lie down." So he went and lay down.
6 Again the LORD called, "Samuel!" And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, "Here I am; you called me."
"My son," Eli said, "I did not call; go back and lie down."
7 Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD : The word of the LORD had not yet been revealed to him.
8 The LORD called Samuel a third time, and Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, "Here I am; you called me."
Then Eli realized that the LORD was calling the boy. 9 So Eli told Samuel, "Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, ’Speak, LORD , for your servant is listening.’ " So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
10 The LORD came and stood there, calling as at the other times, "Samuel! Samuel!"
Then Samuel said, "Speak, for your servant is listening."
There may be times that God is speaking to us and we just don’t know it because we don’t recognize the voice.
We begin to recognize God’s voice in Scripture
The scriptures are the place where the voice of the shepherd is most likely to be heard.
SCRIP: John 10:1-6 1"I tell you the truth, the man who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. 2The man who enters by the gate is the shepherd of his sheep. 3The watchman opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a strangers voice." 6Jesus used this figure of speech, but they did not understand what he was telling them.
(Play It) God Bless You
We are quick to say God Bless You, we want to encourage and speak a good thing over someone life.
1. Sneeze. “God bless you.”
2. Christian greetings. We say, “God bless you.”
3. Formula. Table blessing of food.
4. We string together words, but cannot decode them.
5. What does the hymn mean, “Count Your Many Blessings”? More and many.
SCRIP: Gen 1:27- 27So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
(Play It) The Candidate
Jesus longed to point men and women toward the Kingdom of God. No matter the person's status in life, Jesus never compromised the Kingdom standards. If anyone wants to follow Jesus, it's their choice, just as it is their choice to reject Him! The Word declares that God does not want anyone to parish, be lost, but in the end it is our (your) choice.
The word "Christian" has come to mean a multitude of things to many people, but there is only one kind of Christian, or christianity for that matter. And that's God's kind. We don't have the luxsery to pick and choose what we want to live by in the Word of God. In order to be a true Christian, we must have the whole Word in us.
(Play It) The Universal Church a church without Walls
The church of the living God, has no walls, there are no barriers between God and His people. But yet the church seems too many, to have walls and barriers to those not in the church. The church of the living God is available to everyone, regardless of their racial, economical, or cultural background. Jesus made is very clear when He spoke these words:
Go ye therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you, and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.
