New Rock Band 2 Intro
I was starting to get a little played out on Rock Band. And with the technical miscue this week on the Rush "Moving Pictures" DLC delay, I had no reason to want to jump in and play. Then this intro trailer comes along and now -- Man, I cannot WAIT to play this! Also, check out the main story for news on some upcoming full album releases this year. Stevie Ray Vaughn? More RHCP? Can anyone else smell the death of the Guitar Hero franchise?

Behold The StyroBot!
This is just too cool to pass up:
"For years I've been saving the styrofoam packing that protects the new devices that arrive in our American household. A year ago I saw pictures of two styrofoam robots created by Michael Salter at a museum in North Carolina (before he exhibited one in San Jose this past June). They were stunning. Not only was it art from junk, but it looked easy to do. My son and I could handle this. A recycled styrobot would be the perfect geek dad project.
Check this thing out here. Thanks to Dan for the heads up.

Creating With Cubes

Ever have the itch to see some of your favorite pop culture icons in cube form? Well, today is your lucky day. Behold CubeCraft - a site that allows you to download, print out and create versions of your favorites cube shaped characters. I think I'm going to print out a few of these and line my desk up with them. I need more clutter. Thanks to Chad for the find.

Ode to Bacon
I've been going through a bit of a bacon renaissance the past few weeks. I've been frying up some bacon and making some delicious turkey clubs. I've been sharing bacon with my in-laws at Sunday brunches. I just can't get enough bacon. Bacon is one of those quintessentially politically incorrect foods. The kind of food that- according to health experts - everyone should avoid. Yet the growing consensus is that bacon cannot be resisted. It seems to be more accepted than shunned these days. Take the Bacon Alarm Clock. What better way to wake up than to the smell of frying bacon? I went online while researching this blog post to find some poetic verses about bacon, but was sorely disappointed when only finding the poetry of this hack.

So I will share with you my own Ode to Bacon:

Ahem.

Bacon,
Crispy and brown.
Fried to perfection.
You exist to harden my arteries.
Yet, you make my mouth water at the thought.
We are in different worlds bacon, you and I.
But we're both
dipped
in
fat.
Eggs!

Jawbone's Party Place

Ok, the secret is out. We have had our own party place at a mini-golf course in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. Dan from Traveling Munchies took his sons there to party like rockstars. He thought the art looked like some of my Monster By Mail stuff. And then, he discovered my secret party place (SPP). And yes, you can rent out this place for kid's birthday parties. Just make sure it's a kid you hate.

My Triumphant Return to ELR!
It's been over a year since I did a guest spot on Scott Johnson's ELR, but who's counting? I was on last night discussing my non-meeting with Scott in Las Vegas, and basically talking about geekery and such. Listen, won't you?

I'm Melting...IN VEGAS!

Arrived in Vegas. To 110 degree temps. It is damn hot out here. Who woulda thunk it? Anywho, attended the shrinking New Media Expo, went to In-N-Out Burger with The Eye-bott and Mashupman Sebastiaan and overall, just trying to make it to tonight's Coverville 500 party at Bally's. I'm going to try and get some video this weekend, but so far, not a whole lot. Plus, rumor has it that the Scott Johnson is sick. So that sucks.

Anyway, sleep for a second, then more expoing!

UPDATE: Coverville 500 was awesome. Great show. Video coming soon, I'm sure (courtesy of me). Photos and more coming this week as well. Hoping to get some video of this event, but it seems less likely as every minute goes by. More later...

UPDATE 2: Photos of my long Friday at the NME are up for you to look at now.

The World Simpson-ified!

What a totally cool idea. This guy has decided to draw different characters in Simpsons format. Some of them have appeared on the show, but many haven't. He does an awesome job on all of them. Check em all out here. Thanks Knightwise!

In other news, I will be at the New Media Expo attending the Coverville 500 show on Friday night. And yes, Coulton will be playing. I think I may be the only person who went to Coulton's last show in Cleveland and his show in Vegas. I think I should win something for that.

Repurposing The Monsters
I've been meaning to blog about this for a while, and now seems like a perfect time. I've recently seen some repurposing of my Monster By Mail artwork, which is pretty dang cool. The best example comes from Kraken Mosaics, who used my version of a zombie Venus De Milo as the inspiration for her recent mosaic mermaid.

Not to be outdone, YouTube user Slayer66x apparently got a tattoo of the art I created for Jonathan Coulton's song "Octopus". I haven't seen the actual tattoo, though photos may be forthcoming. Perhaps it didn't turn out as well as they expected. In any event, neato!

Ok, I get this is from Equss. But that doesn't make it any less weird. I think the word we're all searching for is "Wha...?" Enjoy captioning, gang!
